Boron carbide

 

Boron carbide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula BC.
It is one of the three hardest materials (after diamond and cubic
boron nitride), with a Mohs hardness of approximately 9.5. It is
commonly used in tank armor, bulletproof vests, and many industrial
applications such as wear-resistant materials, ceramic reinforcement,
lightweight armor, and reactor neutron absorbers.
